Local Law Enforcement
Around 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Cars, walls and postboxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a statement.
Police say they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.
The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then located many other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are banned in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police report early analysis show the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no lead as to where it came from; authorities are not yet aware of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they stated.
Local authorities stated they were trying "to resolve the case" and have appealed to the community for details.
A senior official stated the incident rendered him stunned and had to be solved rapidly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the far-right attack in 2020," he stated on online, recalling the murder of nine victims by a shooter aiming at residents of migrant background in February 2020.
